Keep Thy Eyes Unlocked

Wipe away your sorrows, your tears wound the heart that has kept your love,
Don't say sorry, beautiful eyes, you have committed no sin, nor have I.
Rest your cheek on this rough shoulder that will ne'er forget its contours,
I dream of a dream where I am not now saying— ne'er had I whispered goodbye.

Told that time will tear me from this pain, glimmer of sun will come through the rain,
No! How can a world be so unjust to take her— not another— now and forever.
Find another? To bridge the gap she will leave, but no bridge can close the void,
Why— oh please why— no one can tell me why it happens, why we can't die never.

Stay with me this night, be with me this midnight, sleep not tonight eternally,
Talk with me this hour, dance with me this minute, end not thy life journey,
T'is time, too soon to have come for thee, to soon, Death beckoned early.
Make no flight, please— keep thy eyes open, unlocked— for me.
