Forever to say goodbye
It takes forever to say farewell and so long,
both of us know that friendship is too strong
to break with a simple word or a gentle wave,
especially the true friendship each of us gave.
It takes forever to say so long and goodbye,
making it short is not easy, even if we try.
there is always another hug, another word,
another thanks, something we've never heard.
It takes forever to say goodbye and farewell,
we have known so as long as time could tell,
because we want to give the gift of laughter
for yesterday, today, and every day hereafter.
It takes forever to open our hands and let go,
we tell too many words to let each other know,
in hopes that one day we'll find each other again,
that the friendship we said goodbye to, can begin.
