Store on the Corner

in a young town of fantasy and wonder and dreams,
everything looks normal, nothing is what it seems,
people wander the streets, greeting each other
as if they are all family, sister or brother.

there is an enchanted street where shops open,
two sides of various stores, each side with ten,
selling from food to clothing, services to products,
the store on the north corner sells little lucks.

the store is built like a home, simple and petite,
like all the other stores it is clean and neat.
unlike all the other stores, it never sells—
it collects, making money by tales the owner tells.

a young fairy in blue is the keeper of the store,
tender of the toys inside, storyteller, and more.
her voice is melodic, her words are lyrics of song,
her breath is sweet, her smile makes right of wrong.

she says good morning and goodnight to everything,
be it a stuffed bear, or a bouncing face on a spring.
trinkets and gadgets and knickknacks and novelties
fill the shelves, she names each of her beauties.

people young and old find their inner child
in this store, where their imagination goes wild.
lost in happiness and finding themselves a heart,
the end of sadness, and discovery of a new start.

the house of happiness, the place of grand joys,
the shop of charms, the place of small toys,
the home of hearts, the destination of doves,
the store on the corner, Lorie's Little Loves.
