Navigator Navigator

before you go away my young navigator,
never lose these words i tell and teach,
remember them always in your heart,
or you will forever be out of reach.

as you set your sail for the seas,
i tell you to look to the star
to help guide you to your destiny,
keeping you safe as you travel afar.

navigator, navigator, you will learn someday
to forget the facts and figures in mind,
trust your faith, hear your hopes, make your wishes,
you will learn that your heart is not blind.

you can climb all the highest peaks,
you can sail your ship to all the seas,
you can walk through any path in the world,
but you can't see what your love sees.

never be completely lost in the darkest of nights,
your third sight can see though caged deep inside,
to protect it from the strong strikes and stabs
but from the purest of thoughts it doesn't hide.

navigator, navigator, you will learn someday
to wash away all your known paths of any kind,
there is no paved street to my home, my heart,
close your eyes and believe, then you will find.

no need to retrace your footsteps in the sand,
no need to leave markers wherever you may go,
no need to ask the oracles or the wise men,
no need to chart every river that may flow.

no need to do anything but open your arms,
listen to your heart as it tells you where,
your love will open your third eye to see ahead,
as you finally begin to hear, you will see me there.

navigator, navigator, you will learn someday
to let the heart in you break free—
because you don't need maps or compasses
to find your way back to me.
